The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is pleased to re-launch its study abroad/summer school and internship program on “Public Policy Management and Economic Development, from 10th June to 16th August 2024 in Accra, Ghana. The IEA, which was founded in October 1989, is an independent, non-governmental institution dedicated to the establishment and strengthening of a market economy and democratic, free, and open society. It considers improvement in the economic, legal, social, and political institutions as necessary conditions for sustained economic growth and human development. The IEA supports education, research, advocacy, and publishes studies on important economic, socio-political, and legal issues to enhance understanding of public policies that promotes socio-economic development in Ghana and Africa. The IEA boasts a beautiful and exotic environment in the heart of Accra and is home to some of the best researchers and scholars in economics, law, political science, and governance, in the country. It is also home to the Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye Centre for Constitutional Studies, under the directorship of the former speaker of parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye. Other prominent members at the centre are the former Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Sophia Akuffo and Dr. John Kwakye, a prominent Ghanaian economist who had an illustrious career at the Bank of Ghana and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before joining the IEA as the Director of Research.
